Rafael Nadal could go sleeveless at the Australian Open
The first image of Rafa Nadal will always be the long locked Spaniard, sporting a sleeveless T-shirt and long shorts(three-fourth length), running around the court, making the impossible happen.
The locks have gone thinner, the shorts, shorter and the sleeveless Tee has made way for the well-tailored T-Shirt(sleeved, of course).
The fighting spirit and ‘never say die’ attitude have stood the test of time, but the attire has sure gone a huge makeover in the last decade.
Reports in the Marca suggest that Rafa could be sporting the ‘sleeveless’ this time round as well, bringing it to the court after a break of nearly 10 years.
Nadal hasn’t worn the sleeveless tank since 2008, but will be raiding his wardrobe for one this time round in order to beat the Melbourne heat.
When the news broke out, a ‘Nadal Fan Website'(rafaelnadalfans.com) was extremely pleased with the decision, coming out in numbers to support Rafa’s decision of playing in the sleeveless tank.
“Been waiting for it to happen, and why not! If you’ve got it flaunt it. I think he’s more himself wearing sleeveless shirts,” a fan commented.
“Love to see Rafa wearing sleeveless T-shirt. He looks good in it and with the hot weather in Melbourne it’s only practical to wear it,” another fan commented.
Nadal is making a comeback from the knee injury that struck him late in the 2017 season, and while he was hoping to test himself(and his fitness) in the Kooyong Classic, his run was cut short by Richard Gasquet, who beat him in straight sets.
Nadal’s movement looked a bit hampered, and he’ll have to maybe reassess his participation in Melbourne, though he is 90% confirmed to feature.
With Andy Murray having already withdrawn from the event, and Novak and Rafa making comebacks from injury, Federer would be fancying his chances at the Australian Open once again.
The Australian Open is set to begin on the 15th of January.
