WATCH: Virat Kohli questions the umpire about the 3rd umpire during RCB vs SRH
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) registered a victory over table topper Sunrises Hyderabad (SRH) by 14 runs in the clash on Thursday (17th May). The fans saw power hitting from both the sides as it was a high scoring game.
The match also some brilliant outfield catching, as Rashid Khan and ABD plucked off two of the best catches of IPL 2018. However, another such effort was ruled out by the 3rd umpire when Tim Southee leaned forward to take a catch at the square leg boundary.
The incident took place during the second spell of Umesh Yadav. On the fifth delivery of the third over, Alex Hales hit the over the mid-on and Tim Southee took the catch around the ropes by diving forward.
There were doubts among the on-field umpires and so they went to the third umpire for the final decision. The soft signal was ‘out’.
In the replay of the catch, it was clearly seen that the catch was all clear but the TV umpire gave the final decision as not out.
This incident shocked everyone and Virat Kohli was particularly unhappy with the decision.
Southee couldn’t restrict himself from expressing the disbelief and even the commentators put their disagreement with the decision.
Just the decision took place, RCB skipper Virat Kohli was seen running to the on-field umpires. “Who’s the third umpire?,” the skipper was seen asking the on-field umpire. But as per the rules, the umpire’s decision is final and binding.

Despite the blunder, RCB were able to seal the match and keep their chances alive in the tournament. They will next face Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Saturday (19th May) in a do or die game. The Net Run Rate (NRR) will play a major role in the qualifying subject. However, RCB not net to worry much about it as they have a pretty well NRR.
