WATCH: Alexander Zverev and English reporter in a hilarious exchange at the press conference
Alexander Zverev was in a good mood in his post match press conference after the ‘back from the dead’ win against Lajovic in the second round of the French Open yesterday.
Zverev found himself 2 sets to 1 down against the highly talented and free-flowing Lajovic.
It seemed like one of the biggest challengers to that ‘Roland Garros throne’ of Nadal, could be knocked out in the 2nd round itself.
However, Zverev dug deep, rallied hard and essentially blew Lajovic away in the final two sets, winning them 6-1, 6-2.
In the post match presser, Zverev was quizzed about his lack of grand slam titles, despite being so effective and successful in ATP Masters events.
Zverev couldn’t help but laugh a little whilst the question was being asked, as the reporter had this strong British accent.
Zverev ignored the reporter’s question and asked him ‘where he was from’ and also admitted that he didn’t really understand what the reporter asked.
The press room erupted into laughter and the reporter sheepishly replied that he was from ‘Yorkshire’.
Zverev also conceded that he if there was ever was a tournament in Yorkshire, he would definitely play, just because he loved the accent so much.
The reporter actually wanted to know if this Roland Garros could be the turning point in Zverev’s career. Zverev said that he wanted to believe so, especially when the reporter was saying it so brilliantly.
