Channel 7 cricket commentators: Channel 7 cricket commentary team for AUS vs WI Tests
Australia have seized ‘Day 1’ of the ongoing first Test match against West Indies at the Perth Stadium, with the two sides facing each other after nearly seven years in the longest format.
Opting to bat first, the hosts had lost David Warner (5) early in the day, but dominated the entire proceedings from there on, with the scorecard reading 293/2 after Stumps on ‘Day 1’.
Marnus Labuschagne was the star of the day, having smashed his eighth Test century and batting at an unbeaten 154* off 270 deliveries.
He, alongside Southpaw batter Usman Khawaja (65) stitched together a 142-run stand, which also happens to be the highest 2nd wicket stand in Tests at the Perth Stadium.
Post Khawaja’s dismissal, Labuschagne then batted right through the day alongside Steve Smith (59*), with the duo already adding together 142* runs as well, for the 3rd wicket.
Jayden Seales and Kyle Mayers managed to pick up one wicket apiece, in what turned out to be a pretty long day on the field today for the Windies.
