“Damn! Kobe Bryant Thinks Different!”: When Lou Williams Was in Awe of the Black Mamba For Figuring Out How to Stop Steph Curry
Kobe Bryant is renowned for a variety of reasons. His skill as a basketball player, his mentality, and of course his high basketball IQ.
Kobe is one of the smartest ballers in NBA history. His devotion to the game and his need to constantly improve has helped develop his sense of understanding when it comes to basketball.
So much so, that even his teammates were in awe of the way he thought. Just ask Lou Williams, who was witness to the Black Mamba’s genius strategy to stop Steph Curry.
Kobe Bryant left Lou Williams dumbfounded after he figured out how to stop Steph Curry on the fly
Steph Curry is easily the greatest shooter in the history of basketball. The man is unstoppable from three-point range and is understandably one of the toughest people to guard against.
But that is not the case for Kobe Bryant though. The Black Mamba is a genius, figuring out how to stop the Chef while in the middle of a match. Kobe’s former teammate Lou Williams elaborated in an interview.
“I just remember him saying some sh*t. Every once in a while, I was just like “Damn he thinks different!”. One time we came in, we was playing Golden State and this was when Steph was starting to catch fire. He was starting to turn into “The Chef”. He just kept saying, “I fu**ing found it!”. He like, “He don’t like people standing on the side of him! He can shoot with you in front of him! He can shoot with you behind him! But on his side? He don’t like that!”, and we shut him down again!”
A truly ingenious strategy. One that can only come from someone with great awareness and a high basketball IQ, like the Black Mamba.
Kobe greatly appreciated Steph Curry and thought highly of him
Steph Curry is a class apart. There can be no denying that. He may have been stopped on occasion by Kobe Bryant, but the five-time NBA champion was a fan of The Chef. After all, it’s not every day you get a complimentary slap on the behind from one of the greats.

Both men are two of the greatest to ever do it, and will likely go down in history as two of the most unstoppable players the league has ever seen.
