“Lakers Winning is More Than Just Anthony Davis”: JJ Redick Brings Insight to How LeBron James and Co Have Grown as a Team
The Los Angeles Lakers are now looking like an entirely different team than how they started their 2022-23. On the back of monstrous performances by Anthony Davis, they are now 8-2 in the last 10 games.
Before this remarkable turnaround, they were 2-10 to start the season and were the worst offensive team in the league. Since they have climbed on both the points table and offense chart.
And although most of the credit goes to AD for this quick turnaround, it did need the entire Lakers to become the fourth-best from the worst offense in the league. This was recently explained thoroughly by a former lethal sniper of the NBA, JJ Redick.
JJ Redick’s insight on Anthony Davis and the Los Angeles Lakers
In the recent episode of The Old Man and The Three, JJ discussed how the true shooting percentage of some teams has been directly proportional to their league standings.
And after praising Anthony Davis’ performances in the last 10 games and calling them his most dominant stretch ever, he brought up how the Lakers winning these games is more than just AD.
LeBron James, Lonnie Walker IV, and Austin Reaves have all been shooting over 45% percent from the 3-point line and that’s what Redick said has been going hand in hand with Davis’ performances and getting the Lakers some crucial wins. Makes sense.
Getting back to .500 is one thing, to be a contender is another
The 10-12 Lakers might take a few games to get to .500. They have the Cavaliers, Raptors, and Sixers as their next few opponents while they continue their East coast road trip.
If they win all three of these upcoming games, they surely will make themselves a contender in the West irrespective of their positioning on the table.
And that might affect any chances of seeing Russell Westbrook out because even if they get a sweet deal for Brodie somehow around Christmas, trading him might disrupt the flow they have attained with this team. If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it.
