“His Name is Jayson Taylor”: Charles Barkley Hilariously Mispronounces 6ft 8″ Celtics Forward’s Name While Making Case for MVP
The first team to reach the 20-win mark this season, the Boston Celtics are currently on top of the NBA standings. Ranked no.1 in offensive rating and 3-point shooting, the Cs look at avenging the Finals loss they suffered at the hands of the Golden State Warriors.
The superstar duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have put the league on notice with their performances. The Celtics pair seem to be etching their names in history, combining for never before seen numbers at an impressive efficiency.
There are only 8 players in the NBA averaging at least 25 PPG with at least 60% True shooting…

With 20+ games into the season, the conversation for the MVP has picked up, and Celtics fans have a reason to rejoice, given Tatum is one of the front runners. The reigning ECF MVP is looking to make amends for his lackluster performance during the 2022 Finals.

Recently, heaping praises of the Celtics forward, TNT analyst Charles Barkley had a faux pas moment, leaving all of us and co-panelists Ernie Johnson, Kenny Smith, and Shaquille O’Neal in splits.
“His name is Jayson Taylor”: Charles Barkley messes up an otherwise perfect delivery of Celtics forward’s case for MVP.
One of the most entertaining personalities on sports television, Chuck never seizes to tickle our funny bone, even if it means unintentionally. The most recent instance of this was him making a pitch for Tatum in the MVP race. What sounded like the perfect proposal would have a lapse in the end.
“The MVP of the league right now, no disrespect to Luka, no disrespect to AD. That boy in Boston right now, he’s kicking a** and taking names, his name is Jayson Taylor,” said Barkley leaving the entire panel in splits.
“That was an almost perfect delivery,” hilariously remarked host Ernie Johnson.
Chuck: “That boy in Boston right now, he’s kicking ass and taking names. His name is Jayson Taylor.”
Kenny: “Jayson Tatum?” 🤣 pic.twitter.com/ECjVJcMSYU

Well, we won’t be surprised if Barkley may have mixed up former NFL DPOY and six-time Pro Bowl Jayson Taylor with Jayson Tatum.
Jayson Tatum putting up MVP numbers.
JT has been off to a terrific start, averaging 30.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 4.2 assists on 48% shooting from the field, with the Celtics having the best record in the league so far.
https://t.co/wWGNmWnCY9’s updated MVP Ladder:
1. Jayson Tatum
2. Luka Doncic / Nikola Jokic
4. Giannis Antetokounmpo
5. Devin Booker
6. Stephen Curry
7. Kevin Durant
8. Ja Morant
9. Donovan Mitchell
10. Jaylen Brown— NBACentral (@TheNBACentral) December 2, 2022
While the 24-year-old is leading the MVP race, he needs to ensure he replicates the same number come postseason, if he wishes to have his name among the greats.
