“Not a six, it’s a stunning catch”: Jake Fraser-McGurk grabs outstanding boundary catch to dismiss Shadab Khan in BBL 12
During the 14th match of the ongoing 12th season of the Big Bash League between Hobart Hurricanes and Melbourne Renegades in Hobart, Hobart Hurricanes have put forward a golden opportunity for Melbourne Renegades to win their fourth consecutive match and jump at the top of the points table.
Assuming that happens, Renegades will become the first team to register four BBL 12 wins. All Melbourne have to do to achieve the same is chase down a 123-run target at the Bellerive Oval.
Stand-in Hurricanes captain Nathan Ellis winning the toss and opting to bat first in the absence of Matthew Wade and Ben McDermott called for a quintessential batting collapse resulting in the hosts getting bundled out for 122 in 18 overs.
All-rounder James Neesham (28) getting promoted as an opening batter only for the sixth time in his career saw him hitting a couple of fours and sixes each at a strike rate of 147.36 but no other batter generating any sort of impact didn’t work in HH’s favour.

The highlight of the first innings was the dismissal of all-rounder Shadab Khan (14). Having hit a fours and a six, Khan was eyeing another six off MR pacer David Moody when Jake Fraser-McGurk did his thing on the field yet again.
In spite of the batter getting his timing right, an agile Fraser-McGurk ran towards his right from deep mid-wicket before jumping in the air to throw the ball aerially into the playing area.
Having effortlessly regained his balance, Fraser-McGurk returned to the ground to complete the catch. The fact that all the commentators had declared the shot as a six after taking into consideration Khan’s timing further speaks highly of Fraser-McGurk’s acrobatic fielding effort. For the unversed, Fraser-McGurk had allured limelight after grabbing a mind-blowing stunner to dismiss Brisbane Heat’s Jake Weatherald last year.
