The way in which the 2021-22 season ended for the Nets, there was no way for either Kevin Durant or the Brooklyn franchise to know they will be back in contention. Not by the end of December, not at least by how the season started for them.

A lot was there to deal with for KD, Kyrie Irving, and the team first when the duo was looking to part ways and leave the Nets before the season started, and then yet another Kyrie controversy which is still a bit hot, and led to another suspension of the sensational All-Star guard.

However, in their last 11 games, they have turned the season around and have all the games making it the longest streak this season, and the Slim Reaper for one has reaped the most benefit of this tremendous run.

Kevin Durant leapfrogs Chauncey Billups after taking over Kobe Bryant on the all-time 3-pointers made list

The last week of 2022 has been too great for Kevin Durant, not just for the current season, but in terms of his candidacy as an all-time great.

After crossing Tim Duncan on the all-time scoring list and Kobe Bryant on the career 3-pointers made list on Monday, the 4x scoring champ took over Pistons legend Chauncey Billups from the latter list on Saturday and grabbed himself the 20th spot.

Next up J.R. Smith.

How did Durant do it?

Had it come against the Portland Trail Blazers, where Billups is the man in charge, it would have brought a lot more excitement to it. But alas Nets don’t play them in the near future.

It came in his 23 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists night against the Charlotte Hornets when he made the only 3-pointer in his 6 attempts from the distance. But do not think that it was a cold night for the 2x Finals MVP.

The man just played under 30 minutes and sat out the entire 4th quarter as the Nets ran over LaMelo Ball’s side 123-106.
