Larry Bird is one of the greatest players to ever pick up a basketball. But perhaps that line doesn’t quite do him justice. After all, if the NBA is defined by player eras, he joined Magic Johnson to do so for well over a decade.

During his illustrious career, the man was a 12-time All-Star, 10-time All-NBA selection, an All-Star MVP, a 3-time League MVP, a 2-time Finals MVP, and a 3-time NBA champion.

That’s a long list. And that’s despite some achievements being left out.

Due to how great he was, the creators of Twitter decided to give a tribute to the man. And as the former director of the social media website recently revealed, what they did could be in danger of being erased forever.

Twitter’s logo is a reference to Larry Bird, something that could be changed very soon

‘Larry the Bird’. That is the name of Twitter’s logo.

It may not be as incredible as being the logo of the NBA, but this certainly isn’t too much of a step-down. However, as the former director of Twitter, Ryan Sarver recently revealed, Elon Musk may erase this little gesture for something else entirely.

Elon Musk is one of the most innovative and entertaining businessmen on the planet. So, making revolutionary moves and changes is nothing new to him.

But perhaps this is something he should leave alone. After all Twitter’s ownership may have changed, but it is still one of the most popular social media websites on the face of the planet. Changing its logo could make many feel like it’s identity has changed as well.

And of course, the love letter to Larry Bird is a nice little fun fact to keep around as well.

 

Larry Bird also has something else named after him

It isn’t just Twitter that decided to honor the greatness of Larry Bird. The NBA recently did so too.

Not only that, but the league even decided to record the first time the Celtics legend heard about the league’s plans. And his reaction couldn’t have been more brilliant.

Larry Bird should receive an honorary Magic Johnson award just for that response.

Somebody start a petition to make it happen.
