“I like how Michael Jordan was driven to win”: F1 World Champ Max Verstappen’s Takeaway After Watching “The Last Dance”

While the world was stuck at home during the lockdown, in April 2020, Netflix released “The Last Dance”. The 10-episode docuseries gave fans an insight into the 1990s Chicago Bulls, which was led by the likes of Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and Dennis Rodman.

The show revealed the shrewd side of MJ. It disclosed the type of behaviour His Airness adopted in order to win those 6 championships for the Bulls.

After the completion of the series, there were several fans who had a negative image of the former 6-foot-6 star. However, while people hated Mike for being a bit too harsh on everyone around him, a huge group of fans even admired the dedication the GOAT possessed to fulfil his pursuit of being the best.

“I did like the spirit of Michael Jordan”: Max Verstappen

F1 sensation Max Verstappen is just one of many to commend the 5-time MVP for his drive to be a winner.

The Red Bull driver, who chose not to be featured in the latest season of Netflix’s Drive To Survive, doesn’t entirely hate the concept of sports documentaries.

In a GQ interview, the 2-time world champ revealed that he “resonated” with “The Last Dance”. Talking about the same, the Dutch disclosed his admiration for Jordan and acknowledged the icon’s spirit.

“Of course, not everything about that is 100 percent true, because it’s a documentary and some things for sure are a bit hyped up,” he said. “But I did like the spirit of Michael Jordan, how he was pushing it, how he was driven to win.”

Can Max clinch a three-peat?

For the past two years, Max has been the most dominant driver on the F1 circuit.

While the 2021 season witnessed a nail-biting finish against Lewis Hamilton, this past 2022 season, Verstappen was ruthless, to say the least.

The 25-year-old managed to win 15 races, the most number of wins in a season ever. The phenom also racked up 454 points, to claim the record for the most points scored in a single season, surpassing Hamilton’s 413 from a few years ago.

With merely a few weeks remaining for the 2023 season to commence, Verstappen will enter as a favourite to win a 3rd consecutive world title.
