“I’m not going to back down”: David Warner was once fined 50% of match fees for his altercation with Rohit Sharma in 2015
Rohit Sharma and David Warner are certainly two of the best batters in the history of cricket. Both of them are aggressive top-order players, and they are still going strong for their respective teams. Both of them did a live video on Instagram during the lockdown, but they had their share of fights on the field as well.
India and Australia were playing a tri-series game in 2015, where England were the third team. The Indian team was batting in the 1st innings, and during the 23rd over, David Warner and Rohit Sharma engaged in a fight. Rohit was on strike, and he was called for a run by his non-striker Suresh Raina.

The Indian duo tried to take a single on an overthrow that passed between the bat and the pad. Warner was furious over that run, and he was all over Rohit as he believed that both of them broke the unspoken rule of running on an overthrow that had hit the batter. Warner said that Rohit replied in his language, and that’s why he asked him to speak in English.

Warner agreed that he was not right in his behavior with Rohit, but he will not back down if someone gets on the wrong side. The southpaw was fined 50% of match fees for his attitude. Warner is famous for showing his aggressive side on the field quite a few times.
“When I went over to say something to him, he sort of said something in their language and I said ‘speak English’ because, if you’re going to say something, understand that theoretically, I cannot speak Hindi,” Warner said on SkySports radio.
“I was in the wrong … I shouldn’t have engaged him, If people get on the wrong side of me, I’m not going to back down.”
Talking about the match, India scored 269-6 in the first innings, where Rohit scored an excellent century and Suresh Raina scored a half-century. Australia chased the target with 4 wickets to spare courtesy of a 96-run knock from Australia.
