2019 F1 calendar will not have German GP, Miami confirmed
The F1 calendar has been hotly debated for the number and ind of races that should be on it and how it would affect the sport altogether.
Circuits have often been criticised for not being too overtaking friendly but this season the blame has been put on the cars. The aerodynamic nature and the fact that the ‘dirty air’ is affecting the cars so much has made overtaking a major hassle in 2018.
Baku was probably the most entertaining race of this year, providing drivers with the opportunity to make multiple overtaking manoeuvres.
With Baku’s success, F1 authorities have been tilted towards introducing a few more street circuits, one’s that will be able to introduce good amounts of crowd as well.
Now, according to the reports in the BILD, the German GP has been scraped for next year.
Also, according to Auto Motor und sport reporter Tobi Gruner, a 21 race calendar has been finalised for next year, one that will consist of the Miami street race(and no German GP).
However, for Miami, an official confirmation is still left, and if somehow the deal doesn’t go through, the calendar will only have 20 races.
Moreover, 2019 will not have a triple header like the one that we have this year.
“Expect the 2019 F1 calendar to be published within the next days. 21 races. No Hockenheim. No triple-header. Miami to be included but is subject to confirmation. If it falls through there won’t be a replacement.” the reporter quoted.
