CS:GO BLAST Spring Groups: FaZe Clan dominate against OG to book group B final

Despite having a stand-in FaZe Clan is putting up a stellar performance at the CS:GO BLAST Spring Groups. Playing with Patrick ‘es3tag’ Hansen in Håvard ‘rain’ Nygaard’s spot, FaZe was expected to stumble out of the gate. However, es3tag seems to have slotted in smoothly with two easy wins right off the bat. Defeating OG with a 2-1 scoreline, FaZe now finds themselves in the Group B final.

FaZe Clan beats OG 2-1 at the CS:GO BLAST Spring Groups

Map summary:

  • Mirage (FaZe Clan’s pick): 16-7 to FaZe
  • Ancient (OG’s pick): 11-16 to OG
  • Inferno (Decider): 16-4 to FaZe

Starting off on Mirage, OG got off to a great start, clinching the pistol round. Not allowing FaZe to bounce back, they even managed to win the follow-up force buy rounds. However, FaZe seemed to find their footing after round 3 and went on a 7-round streak. After a brief tug-of-war, the half was settled in FaZe’s favor at 10-5. Swapping to the CT side, FaZe strengthened their hold and got off to a 5-round streak. A few great B executes netted OG two rounds before ultimately falling 16-7.

Ancient was a much better map for OG, looking like they had a solid game plan from the first round. flameZ had a great performance, cutting off FaZe Clan at every corner and ending with a 1.27 map rating. FaZe’s CT side left a lot to be desired despite karrigan picking up an auto-sniper at one point. The half was settled 9-6 in FaZe’s favor. However, nexa and co. unlocked a new level on T side and ran away with the map 16-11.

With Inferno as the ultimate decider, FaZe needed to hit a mental reset. However, OG managed to win the pistol, setting them up well for the half. Despite their advantage, FaZe Clan force bought and won a clean round 2, kicking off a streak. OG only managed to find two more rounds in the half, ending it 12-3. The second half was more of the same, with Twistzz absolutely dismantling OG in a 1v2 clutch for the ages. The match was ultimately settled 16-4, relegating OG to the lower bracket and sending FaZe to the Group B final.
