Daniel Ricciardo talks about his ideal teammate and new Red Bull contract
Daniel Ricciardo’s future has been under a lot of speculation over the last few weeks, ever since news of the new Red Bull-Honda deal broke out.
Mercedes, McLaren, Renault and Ferrari also seem to be the possible options for the Australian but if current reports are to be believed, Red Bull are favourites to keep hold of their man.
In the pre-race press briefing of the drivers, Ricciardo was obviously quizzed about his future and his choice of an ideal teammate.
Ricciardo was attending the press conference with Kimi and came up with a very cheeky reply to the reporter’s question about his ‘ideal teammate’.
“I know the answer you want, right? Kimi! Or Valtteri!” he said laughing and stuttering a bit.
“Just pay me the €200 later.” he added, taking a dig at the reporter.

When the laughter subsided, Ricciardo came up with a rather strange comment about his future, as Marko earlier had suggested that a new deal is on the cards.
“I still don’t have an answer – not just for you but in my own mind as well,” said Ricciardo.
“There are still ongoing discussions.” he added.
Ricciardo’s little statement in the press conference doesn’t really suggest that he is moving to Ferrari or Mercedes; but only that he isn’t really sure as to what the future holds, something that is contradictory to Marko’s statement earlier about a deal being on the table.
Ferrari and Mercedes look out of bounds for Ricciardo at the moment, as Bottas and Hamilton will continue for Mercedes in all probability, and Leclerc has been identified as the replacement for Raikkonen, if he leaves.
