Ciara Wilson Gives a Shoutout to a Special Surfer Who Is Embodying the Meaning of Her New Song
There are songs that inspire people. There are songs that are inspired by people. Then there are people who unknowingly embody the very meaning of a song. Superstar singer Ciara Wilson found herself in a similar position when her latest song ‘Da Girls’ strongly resonated with the life of a very talented surfer, Bethany Hamilton.
Hamilton is a professional surfer, who lost her left due to a shark attack when she was 13. However, she did not let it impede her dream of competing. In fact, just one month after the dreadful incident, she enrolled in a surfing competition. The Hawai-born surfer recently posted a video on TikTok, with Ciara’s “Da Girls” as the background music.

It didn’t take long for Ciara to come across Hamilton’s TikTok. In fact, she was probably inspired by her story as well, for she immediately took to Instagram to give this wonderful surfer a shoutout. In the video, Hamilton is seen playing around, with one of her kids on her back, and also gives viewers a glimpse of her surfing.

Despite the loss of an arm, Hamilton has established herself as one of the best surfers in the world. Since 1998, she has won 7 out of the 35 events she participated in and had some great results in the others. Apart from surfing, she has also authored multiple books and is a part of several outreach programs.
Ciara and Hamilton have been involved in some controversies lately
Ciara Wilson’s debacle at this year’s Oscars is now common knowledge. The singer’s choice of attire sparked what she calls “selective outrage” against her. Even her husband, Broncos QB Russell Wilson, was not spared, with many critics saying that she will be his downfall. Though it seems the couple is strongly defying all those claims with a rather happy relationship.
Bethany Hamilton also found herself facing backlash after announcing that she will be boycotting all World Surf League events. This came after the league decided to allow transgender women to compete with other female surfers in the same category. Hamilton is a staunch opponent of this move, calling for a separate division to be formed. How will this end up affecting Hamilton’s career?
