After His Departure from DCEU, Dwayne Johnson Set to Make Over $60 Million Working with Company That Owns MCU!

Nobody ever imagined that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson would end his DCEU journey in such an awful way. First, his dream project Black Adam under-performed at the box office. And then, the sequel to that movie didn’t get a green signal from the production house. However, the former DC Superhero has moved on and is, in fact, all set to work with a rival company. Dwayne Johnson is reportedly in talks with the parent company of MCU, Disney, to star in the live adaptation of the 2016 hit film “Moana”.

Back then, The Great One vocalized one of the key characters of the animated movie. Johnson gave voice to the demigod “Maui”, who guides the protagonist throughout her quest. The action-adventure was a box office success grossing over $645 million worldwide.

Recently, Dwayne Johnson, via. Walt Disney Studios‘ official YouTube channel announced the live adaptation of “Moana”. Although not much was revealed about the project, a few key characters were confirmed. As far as the megastar is concerned, he will be bringing the “Maui” character to life.

The wrestler-turned-actor reportedly made a whopping $21 Million for his role in the 2016 version. And if things go as planned, the live adaptation of “Moana” might be a bigger payday for Dwayne Johnson. The movie is going to be produced by his “Seven Bucks Productions” which means he will get a percentage cut from the total revenue.

Hypothetically, if Dwayne Johnson charges a 10% cut for the live adaptation of “Moana”, he will still be making over $60 million. Though all of that will be possible only if the movie earns around its animated version. Besides, right now, the project is in its early stages and there’s no detail on when it will hit the floors.

Despite all the hard work and global publicity, his Black Adam failed to perform at the box office

Believe it or not, the plans of Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam were put into motion in 2007. After years of waiting, hard work, and hype, the movie was finally released last year on October 21. To make his dream project successful, the Megastar did promotions at a global level.

However, despite giving his best, the film got an average fan reaction and couldn’t impress the critics. Made at a budget of around $190-260 million, Black Adam’s performance was just $393 million.

After that, not only was the sequel nixed, but Dwayne Johnson was accused of forcing changes in Black Adam and Shazam 2. All of that, in a way, resulted in him parting ways with DCEU. Anyway, let’s see if Moana marks his comeback at the box office.
