“Draymond Green is Like a Monkey Was Jumping”: Lithuanian Basketball Host Calls Warriors Forward ‘Real Animal’ For Stomping Domantas Sabonis
Draymond Green has become the focal point of the media again after the second game of the first-round matchup against the Sacramento Kings. Golden State Warriors lost their second consecutive game of the NBA playoffs and are now trailing 0-2 in the series.
The Warriors could not overcome their regular season issues of excessive fouling and careless turnovers in the second game against the Kings. This resulted in the Kings taking full advantage and protecting their home court.
However, the incident that broke the news yesterday was between Draymond Green and Domantas Sabonis. In the fourth quarter, Draymond was ejected from the game for stomping on Sabonis’ chest while the latter was visibly holding the former’s leg. This incident has received mixed reactions from fans and analysts worldwide.
Lithuanian podcast host calls Draymond Green a ‘monkey’
Reacting to the incident, a podcast host from Domantas Sabonis’ hometown came under scrutiny for his comments. The Lithuanian host was visibly upset with Green’s foul and blurted out racial comments to illustrate his feelings. Here is what he said:
“What happened yesterday in Sacramento, when Draymond Green just like a monkey was jumping,” said Tiškevičius. “There is no racism here. If you want you can try to see this kind of jumping is a monkey jumping, and he was jumping on Domantas Sabonis. … A real animal, animal.”

The words ‘monkey’ and ‘animal’ are unacceptable when describing someone of African-American descent. They are said to have racial undertones owing to a history of abuse and torture. Though the host clarified that his comments were not meant to be racist, the internet has not taken it well.
Where does this incident leave Draymond Green?
Draymond Green might be looking at a one-game suspension for his actions on Monday night. With the league cracking down on removing unsportsmanlike behavior from the game, they will be examining the incident. This will be a huge blow to an already struggling Warriors team.
The league will take into account the ejection served by Draymond and if further punishment needs to be levied. The Golden State Warriors travel back home to Chase Center for the next two games of the series. With Game 3 set to happen on Thursday night, the team and the fans will be waiting anxiously for the decision.
