WATCH: Mohammed Shami traps Joe Root in front, Kohli celebrates

Mohamed Shami and Ishant Sharma started the day a little cold, straying down the leg side and giving the English batsman a lot of freebies in order to chip away at the paltry Indian total.

However, as and when the day went on, the lines kept getting better and they found the correct length to trouble the English batsmen on a sunny day at Lord’s

Mohammed Shami’s perfect seam representation allows him to extract seam movement in even the driest of conditions. He took advantage of that tinge of grass here and dished out an absolute corker to get rid of the well settled Joe Root.

The ball hit the seam, jagged back in and Root was trapped right in front.

Daryl Harper raised the finger in a jiffy and India had their 4th scalp of the morning.

Virat Kohli was patient in his approach in the first session and wasn’t quite getting the required purchase from his bowlers. However, when Root departed, he let it out, punching the air and jumping in order to celebrate his counterparts wicket.

Kohli mimicked the Root ‘mic drop’ celebration at Edgbaston but was content with his trademark leap and fist pump celebration this time round.

Match Situation

India have lost control ever since Lunch, with England scoring at 7 runs/over. Bairstow and Buttler have take the attack to the Indian bowlers, who seem to be lacking some zip.

India will want to get Ashwin a little bit into the game, and as quickly as possible, as they desperately need to run through this English batting order.
