Charles Leclerc Supports Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen Lobbying Return of Highly Talked African Race

Charles Leclerc has sung along with Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen over the return of the African race. After the two drivers talked about the race in this continent, the Ferrari driver joined the bandwagon and added further support.

In an interview with the Pitstop podcast Jake and Fab, Leclerc opened up on the matter. When asked what particular place the Monegasque would love to race where he hasn’t amid the rising fans all over the world, he mentioned Africa.

The 25-year-old said, “Honestly, I would love to go to Africa one day. That’ll be amazing.” The Ferrari star went on to mention the rumors he saw on social media. The former Sauber man concluded with the hope that one day F1 goes to race in Africa.

From last year to this year, the reports of a return to the African continent have been massive. From F1 chief Stefano Domenicali to sports two titanic figures all voiced their support for the return of the race.

Hamilton wants F1 to return to Africa

The seven-time world champion who often visits the African continent during the season break has voiced his opinion over the African F1 prospect. The Mercedes driver said he wholeheartedly wants the sport to make a return there.

Africa last hosted its race back in 1993 under South African Grand Prix. As the talks of Kyalami have been making rounds since 2022, the Stevenage-born also joined the bandwagon of people who wants to see a race in the only continent that’s missing from the calendar.

As F1 went on to add multiple venues to their calendar in recent times, such as Jeddah, Miami, and recently Las Vegas, Hamilton said that the next race he wants to see on the list is South Africa.

Verstappen joined the bandwagon

Red Bull star driver didn’t leave himself behind when it comes to voicing his opinion on the track he would love to race. Much like Leclerc and Hamilton, the defending champion revealed his wish to race in the continent one day.

The Dutchman said on this, “I’d like to race in Africa. So Kyalami would be a cool addition.” Despite having high chances, the Kyalami race lost its chance of a 2023 F1 return.

However, with the 2024 calendar still to be finalized, the organizers are expected to do the last-minute push to have the South African Grand Prix on board.
