CSK Highest Successful Run Chase in IPL History

Chennai Super Kings will have to register their joint second-highest successful Indian Premier League run-chase if they are to win the ongoing match against Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

CSK, who have chased down 200+ targets thrice in the history of the IPL, are currently in pursuit of a 203-run target in their first match at this stadium in the last four years. Although not among the highest run-chases by any means, Super Kings’ last match in Jaipur had also resulted in a thrilling and dramatic second innings. The same remains their only successful IPL run-chase in the city.

With Royals putting on board the first-ever IPL innings total in excess of 200 runs at the SMS Stadium, it will be interesting to see if Super Kings will be able to pull off a record run-chase at this venue or not.

Taking into consideration their start, there is no hiding to the fact that Chennai have an exceedingly high mountain to climb in front of them. Even with their in-form batters, scoring 161 runs in 14 overs requires a herculean effort.

If truth be told, the visitors shouldn’t have been chasing such a target especially after reducing the hosts to 146/4 in the 17th over. Irrespective of who wins, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that fans around the nation would be hoping for Chennai captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni to not only bat but also hit sixes in a tense finish as he has done previously in this season.
