Jos Buttler IPL Centuries: How Many Hundreds Has England Captain Scored For Rajasthan Royals?

Rajasthan Royals opening batter Jos Buttler has missed out on an opportunity to equal Universe Boss Chris Gayle‘s record of scoring most centuries in the history of the Indian Premier League. Buttler, who has a total of five IPL centuries to his name, fell short by as many runs to touch the three-figure mark in IPL 2023 Match 52 against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium tonight.

For those who don’t know, Buttler shares the second spot with former Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli as both of them have five IPL hundreds to their name. Another similarity between the two right-handed batters is them scoring a total of four centuries in one IPL season.

While Buttler achieved that feat as recent as the last season of the IPL, Kohli’s career-best IPL season had come in 2016. As compared to Buttler’s grand 863-run IPL 2022, Kohli had inscribed a record 973-run IPL 2016 back in the day. Both the star batters are yet to score a century in the ongoing 16th season of the biggest T20 league across the globe.

Speaking of Buttler’s latest innings, he left behind a minor lean patch to score 95 (59) including 10 fours and four sixes at a strike rate of 161.01 in what is Royals’ penultimate home match of the season. Opening the batting with Yashasvi Jaiswal (35), Buttler was part of an 81-ball 138-run partnership for the second wicket alongside captain Sanju Samson (66*).

Buttler, who completed his 19th IPL half-century in the 12th over of the match, was found wanting in front of the stumps by SRH pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the penultimate over of the innings.
