“It’s Quiet Embarrassing”: Rohit Sharma Once Revealed How He Can’t Fathom Performing Hat-trick in the IPL
Mumbai Indians will play against Rajasthan Royals tonight in the 1000th match of Indian Premier League. Rohit Sharma will be leading Mumbai in the match and he is the most successful captain in the history of the tournament. Sharma has achieved a lot in his career but he still considers taking a hat-trick with the ball as one of his biggest achievements.
Sharma used to play for Deccan Chargers before joining Mumbai. In the early phase of his career, Sharma used to be a handy off-spinner as well and he proved his class by taking three wickets in a row in IPL 2009. Interestingly, he achieved this special feat against Mumbai Indians only.
It was the 32nd match of the tournament where Chargers scored 145/6 courtesy of a 38-run knock from Sharma. While defending the target, Sharma was given the task of bowling the 16th over. Sharma surprised everyone and took the wickets of all-rounder JP Duminy, batter Abhishek Nayar and bowler Harbhajan Singh in consecutive balls.
Rohit Sharma Once Revealed How He Can’t Fathom Performing Hat-trick in the IPL
Sharma was once doing an Instagram live session with Australian batter David Warner. He said during the chat that he still can’t believe that he has an IPL hat trick under his belt. Sharma had recalled that he used to be a good bowler back then but a finger injury stopped him from continuing the same.
Sharma was jovial about the fact that all three of the dismissed players were decent batters. He took a dig at them by saying that the trio underestimated him with ball in hand.
“I can’t believe that man, I seriously can’t believe that I took a hat-trick against MI while I was playing for Hyderabad (Deccan Chargers). I don’t even remember how I used to bowl then, I got a finger injury and after that, I could not grip the ball properly,” Rohit told Warner.
“If I think of it now, it’s quiet embarrassing that I took a hat trick. They were decent batters as well, first one was JP Duminy, second one was Abhishek Nayar and third one was Harbhajan Singh.”
Rohit Sharma IPL bowling record
Sharma last bowled in IPL during the 2021 season. Overall, he has bowled 60.3 overs in the tournament where he has scalped 15 wickets at an impressive economy of 7.49. He has one four-wicket hall under his belt. Talking about overall T20s, Sharma has scalped 29 wickets at an economy of 7.84.
