“Shaquille O’Neal Never Said It’s Over!”: Draymond Green Shouts Out Lakers Legend, Talks Warriors Dynasty

The Golden State Warriors were eliminated by the Los Angeles Lakers last night. This is the first time since Steve Kerr took over that the Warriors made the Playoffs and missed the Finals. The elimination brought a lot of topics to light, ranging from the core trio of Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson to the younger players. Draymond chose to address the same in his podcast and name-dropped Shaquille O’Neal while doing so.

The Los Angeles Lakers hosted Game 6 of the Western Conference Semi-Finals last night, and beat the defending champions 122-101. With this loss, the Warriors’ season came to an early end, and that means the conversation that was swept under the rug for so long has to be addressed now. The conversation regarding the future of the team, and this dynasty. Green decided to bring up the same on his podcast.

Draymond Green addresses dynasty concerns, references Shaquille O’Neal

Draymond Green and his contract situation were one of the biggest concerns about this offseason. He has a $27.4 Million option left for the upcoming season. He can opt-in and figure out a contract next year, or he can opt out and sign another deal. However, from all of his talks over the last day, Draymond still wants to be a Warrior and keep playing with the guys he rode in with.

On his podcast, The Draymond Green Show, DG talked about the fact that there need to be changes in the roster, but the trio still has enough juice to go and win more. Addressing the dynasty comments, Dray said,

“A lot of people saying the Warriors dynasty are over, which are the same people who said it was over in 2019, when KD[Kevin Durant] left. 4 years later, they’re still saying it’s over. Great. They’re always wrong. Those people are the same people who said I’ll never make it to the NBA. They’re the same people who said, ‘they’re a jump shooting team, they won’t win,’ it’s those people. They’re saying the dynasty is over. Pay attention to who’s saying it’s over. They’re all people who’ve never been part of a dynasty. You’ve never really seen Shaquille O’Neal, my favorite player growing up, saying, ‘Oh man, it’s over!’ You know why? That man understands, he gets it.”

Draymond Green has the utmost faith that the front office will make the changes needed and figure out a roster that can take them back to the promised land.

Shaquille O’Neal has been a big Warriors supporter

Shaquille O’Neal is a winner, and in turn, he likes to support winners. Golden State Warriors have been the winningest team of the last decade, having won four titles in the span. Also, it helps that Shaq’s favorite player is Stephen Curry.

Even when the Lakers took a 3-1 lead, the Big Diesel had faith that the defending champions would figure things out. Even though that did not happen, I am sure as long as Steph and the core trio are intact, Shaquille O’Neal will never count the Dubs out.
