Warner and Jadeja Video: DC Captain Performs CSK Former Captain’s Sword Celebration at Arun Jaitley Stadium
Delhi Capitals captain David Warner and Chennai Super Kings former captain Ravindra Jadeja were involved in a hilarious incident during the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023 Match 67 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The series of events witnessed Warner performing Jadeja’s trademark sword celebration after being warned by him.
It all happened on the third delivery of the fifth over when Warner ran a single by hitting a Deepak Chahar delivery through the cover region. Warner, who eventually had to dive to complete a run, was saved by a mediocre throw.
Fielding at deep mid-wicket, CSK batter Ajinkya Rahane‘s presence of mind allowed him to back-up well in time to prevent Warner from returning for a second run. However, with Warner opting to remain outside the crease, Rahane threw the ball at the non-striker’s end only for Jadeja to back-up on the off-side this time.
Still outside the crease, Warner was warned by Jadeja against running a second run. Warner, who never shies away from entertainment and even aspires to play a negative role in a Telugu movie, emulated Jadeja’s sword celebration before the two burst out in laughter. Phil Salt, Warner’s batting partner, appeared clueless with the whole episode at the striker’s end.

Warner, who has extended his lead in the list of most half-centuries in IPL history on the back of scoring a 67th fifty on Saturday, is in the middle of his best knock of the season. That being said, lack of support from the other end is neutralizing Warner’s progress in addition to making it difficult for the hosts to chase down a record 224-run target in their last match of the competition.
Jadeja, on the other hand, had scored a quickfire 20* (7) at a strike rate of 285.71 in the first innings. Having failed to contribute similarly with the ball in hand, the 34-year old player has returned with his second-most expensive IPL bowling figures of 4-0-50-1.
