Pujara run out today: Watch Ben Foakes dismisses Cheteshwar Pujara as his bat gets stuck into the pitch

Pujara run out today: The senior Indian batsman was extremely unfortunate to get dismissed in the first over of the third day in Chennai.

During the third day of the second Test of the ongoing England’s tour of India in Chennai, India batsman Cheteshwar Pujara was out in an extremely unfortunate manner in the first 10 minutes of the day.

It all happened on the final delivery of the 19th over when Pujara stepped out to England all-rounder Moeen Ali only to hit the ball straight to Ollie Pope at short leg.

Pujara, who was aware enough to return back to the crease, would have made his ground in the general run of things. However, his attempt to return back on this particular occasion saw his batting jamming into the pitch.

While Pujara did his best to return back to the crease with his foot, it was all too late as England wicket-keeper Ben Foakes had dislodged the bails until then. Having played only five deliveries today, Pujara couldn’t add to his overnight score of 7.

With the ball at the MA Chidambaram Stadium continuing to turn sharply, India have lost half their side for less than 100 runs as English spinners have been making inroads into the Indian batting lineup.

Currently leading by 291 runs, the hosts would be confident of excessive runs behind them on this surface. It is worth mentioning that India captain Virat Kohli and all-rounder Axar Patel are battling it out in the middle right now.
