Romeo Doubs created some controversy when he said that it wasn’t much different going from Aaron Rodgers to Jordan Love. Now, he’s created a massive debate about whether he’s right or not. The folks on Good Morning Football got together to discuss the take and former defensive back Jason McCourty backed Doubs’ statement, claiming that it’s good for the young receivers to go out there and show confidence and faith in their new quarterback.

Rodgers‘ departure from the Green Bay Packers was a long time coming, but that still doesn’t take away from the gravity of it. He was the face of the organization for many years, and suddenly, the team has to completely shift identities and focus on building around their new group. Jordan Love has only played 10 games, and he’s started just one. However, the Packers receiving core is equally as inexperienced, and so this marks a good time for the time to come and grow together.

Rodgers went through one of the worst seasons of his career as the Packers stumbled to an 8-9 record and missed the playoffs, a rarity in Rodgers’ tenure. That’s why many fans are saying that if there’s any time for Jordan Love to prove himself, it’s now.

Romeo Doubs commented that it wasn’t much different going from Rodgers to Jordan Love, and that instantly drew a wave of criticism. Rodgers is an MVP, a Super Bowl winner. How are you comparing him to someone who’s started just one game in their entire career?

Well, Jason McCourty tried to make some sense of it on GMFB. He argued that this is exactly what the Packers need right now. The receiving group is young, and they’re rallying around their young quarterback. “F**k everybody,” McCourty said. Jordan Love has big shoes to fill to replace Rodgers

Regardless of whether or not Doubs’ statement was valid, Love does have some serious work ahead of him. He’s replacing a legend, a man who meant everything to the city of Green Bay.

It’s not going to be easy, and there will be comparisons from day one. However, the hope is that by sitting behind Rodgers and learning from him, Love will be ready from day 1, and he will slowly rise to the level that Rodgers was once at.

It will take time, and it will take patience, but if Jordan Love really puts his mind to it, he can show that he should be the next face of the franchise.
