Jalen Hurts is one of the highest-paid NFL players with his $255 million big deal. However, the quarterback always stayed humble and once set aside $70,000 for his sister’s tuition.

Hurts’ sister Kynnedy Hurts is also an athlete, currently playing volleyball in high school with ambitions of taking it further into college. The Eagles superstar has high hopes for his sister and knows that she can secure a scholarship to play in college.

While Hurts has worked himself up to such a massive contract, things weren’t always so good for him. He came into the Eagles as the 53rd overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft. At that time, the Eagles were committed to former MVP candidate Carson Wentz.

Wentz was suffering from injuries, and the Eagles staff hoped he could regain his MVP form. In the meantime, they drafted Hurts as a backup plan if things went wrong. Well, things did go wrong. The Eagles and Wentz continued to struggle, and it was clear that Wentz wasn’t going to rediscover his past form.

In his early days with the Eagles, Hurts was on a rookie deal, not earning nearly as much as he does right now. However, he still wanted to make sure he looked out for his family first. He set aside $70,000 for his sister’s college tuition from his first $1 million paycheck.

It’s a selfless act, and it shows the kind of person Hurts is. He’s one of the most welcomed players in the league, and he has a deep love for the people he cares about. This act for his sister was nothing out of the ordinary for someone like Hurts.

Jalen Hurts will look past his $255 million in 2024

While Hurts may have secured the bag this offseason for his stellar 2022-23 season, he will ultimately know that the biggest bag is still on the table. The Eagles narrowly missed out on a title last year, losing 38-35 against the Patrick Mahomes-led Kansas City Chiefs.

However, Hurts and the team are determined to get back to where they were. They drafted stud Jalen Carter to round out one of the best draft classes of the year, and added some big names through free agency, despite losing Jason Kelce to retirement. They are now back in the mindset to compete for another Super Bowl after a heartbreaking 2023 season in the NFL.
