“What did Michael Jordan’s Statue Say?”: Even Before Patrick Mahomes Won His Second Ring, Nick Wright Had Declared Him the ‘Greatest Ever’
For many in the football community, Patrick Mahomes is the best signal-caller in the NFL. For some others, he is already well set on becoming the greatest QB ever. One such person with unwavering faith in Mahomes is NFL analyst Nick Wright, who predicted Mahomes’ greatness even before he won his second Super Bowl earlier this year.
Mahomes led the Kansas City Chiefs to their third-ever Super Bowl win, by beating the Philadelphia Eagles at Super Bowl LVII earlier this year. In addition to winning the Super Bowl MVP, he also won the regular Season MVP. His stats all seem to point to him dethroning Tom Brady as the greatest QB to ever play in the NFL. Nick Wright certainly seems to think so.
Nick Wright says Patrick Mahomes is already on a path to surpassing Tom Brady
Before Super Bowl LVII, Nick Wright appeared on Fox Sports ‘First Things First’. On the show, he talked about why he feels Patrick Mahomes is the undisputed GOAT, or at least will be in the near future. The stats he relied on support his views as well. Mahomes seems to have already surpassed Brady in many things.
Is Patrick Mahomes on track to become the GOAT?
"What did Michael Jordan's statue say? He had 3 titles. … Why do we have to wait for him to do more before we say he's the greatest we've ever seen?"

Nick Wright uses Michael Jordan’s career as a reference to the point he is trying to make. According to Wright, Jordan was deemed a phenom even at a time when other players have more championships than him. He says the stats that Jordan had worked in his favor and catapulted him to be christened as the future GOAT. Wright says Mahomes’ stats speak the same story, one of success and greatness.
“The Greatest there ever was, the greatest there ever will be”. That is the engraving on Michael Jordan’s statue, erected back in 1993. Wright’s argument is that if they can call Jordan’s greatness so early in his career, they can do the same with Mahomes. Wright says Jordan’s and Mahomes’ careers are almost similar: great stats, can play in the clutch, and is a certified champion.
Mahomes will be hoping to cement his path to greatness with another ring
Patrick Mahomes has 2 Super Bowl rings to his name. 5 short of what the legendary Tom Brady has. Though, Mahomes still has a lot of years left in him, and his team is only getting stronger by the year. The Chiefs are leaving no stone unturned to help Patrick emulate the kind of success TB12 had with the New England Patriots. Such a run would be the best thing to happen with Kansas City in its history.
Though, the road ahead will not be easy. While the Chiefs are still the favorites to win this season, their opponents are also growing stronger. The Bills and the Bengals will be hoping to disrupt the Chiefs’ title defense and get their hands on the Vince Lombardi Trophy themselves. Both teams are powerhouses in the AFC, and cannot be overlooked at all.
Added to that, the Jets and the Raiders have become stronger in their own rights. Aaron Rodgers joining the Jets has really pumped up their roster. The Raiders too, will be looking to give the Chiefs a hard time in their own division. The thorns on this path to glory are only increasing by the year. Can the Chiefs make it to the end unscathed? Or will they succumb to the wounds inflicted by their rivals?
