Michael Jordan Once Donated Millions for Students Influenced by His Mother, Deloris Jordan

Michael Jordan has often been criticized for his lack of input on socio-political affairs despite his massive superstardom as an NBA great. However, Jordan has contributed a lot to social causes, mostly influenced by his mother, Deloris. In 2014, he provided hundreds of students with college opportunities at the University of North Carolina(UNC), where MJ kickstarted his basketball journey and even won the NCAA Championship in 1982.

The scholarship instilled a profound appreciation for learning in the institution. This foundation inspired the creation of the Wings program, empowering students to pursue their academic dreams by breaking down financial barriers.

Deloris Jordan always stressed the importance of finishing college at a time when Jordan was already hailed as a premier athlete. She understood that her son would never be able to fulfill his potential as a great man if he gave up on education.

Between 2014 and 2018, their collective efforts resulted in over 200 students receiving full-ride scholarships.
