MS Dhoni practices ahead of Asia Cup: In a video, MS Dhoni was seen batting in the nets ahead of India’s first Asia Cup match.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, former India captain and current wicket-keeper batsman was seen sweating it out in the nets ahead of India’s first Asia Cup match against Hong Kongat Dubai tomorrow.

After playing the first match against Hong Kong tomorrow, India will play their second match against Pakistan at the same venue on the day after tomorrow.

In the video posted on Indian Cricket Team’s official Instagram account, Dhoni is seen playing a variety of shots, both off the front and the back foot.

Practicing at the ICC Academy in Dubai, Dhoni starts with playing a defensive shot off the back foot. He follows it up with a few drives through the off-side, some defensive shots and a couple of pull shots. Being the batsman that he is, Dhoni is also seen stepping out of his crease and playing a shot on the leg-side.

In the video, Dhoni is hitting the ball to perfection, something which would have spread an air of happiness in the Indian practice session.Expected to bat at No. 5, Dhoni will hold the key for in the Asia Cup.

Dhoni’s form will be critical to the Indian team for it is without the regular captain in Virat Kohli. Given his ODI experience, the team would be expecting him to stand tall especially alongside an uncertain the middle-order.

What might motivate him is that fact that he has several records to break in both the Asia Cup and while playing ODIs against Pakistan. For someone who has recently surpassed the 10,000-run mark in the ODI format, surpassing these records would be like icing on the cake.
