While describing his personality as ‘mean’, Rick narrates an incident that involved his 4-year-old daughter and the NBA superstar. Here is what he wrote:

“One afternoon, my family and I ran into him in a hotel lobby. It was still six hours to tip off. My four-year-old girl looked up at him in awe and said, ‘Are you Charles Barkley?’ ‘Yes, I am,’ he said. ‘Are you mean?’ she asked. ‘Not till 7:30,’ he said.”

That’s a classic Barkely response! Even though the player was only having fun, the adorable little girl would check the clock next time around. Charles has made a name for himself for his quick wit and one-liners.
