Tyler Herro recently came forward with his response to the failed Damian Lillard negotiations with the Heat. The star Heat guard opened up about how Coach Eric Spoelstra reached out to him right after Dame and Miami’s negotiations fell off. Coach Spo tried to understand Herro’s perspective on the failed trade negotiations and his aspirations for the upcoming season.
“Him reaching out and wanting to connect was really important to me — to understand we’re both on the same page as to what was going to happen at that point… I put in a lot of work over the summer and I’m really excited to get going and show my improvements” ”

Coach Spo’s gesture touched Tyler Herro, who had been doing incredible work since the off-season. The star guard displayed a worthy show against the Memphis Grizzlies in the pre-season, dropping 30 points for his team. Coach Spoelstra was extremely impressed with Herro’s performance, all because both their visions fall in line for the upcoming season.
Tyler Herro could have been traded to the Portland TrailBlazers if the Heat had landed Damian Lillard
The Miami Heat were in consideration for including Tyler Herro during the Damian Lillard trade saga. The Heat were looking to offer Herro in their proposed deal for the Portland TrailBlazers in order to acquire the services of Dame. This could have meant quite drastic for Herro, who had previously posted on his Instagram that he did not have friends in his industry.
Herro was facing extreme uncertainty about his future with the Heat when the franchise was at the peak of negotiating with the Blazers. Though the Heat could not materialize landing Dame to Miami, the failed trade negotiations allowed Tyler Herro to prove his role in the roster.
