“Jealous of NBA Players”: Kevin Durant Rudely Slams Fan for Bringing Up Noah Lyles’ Controversial Statement Amid LeBron James Committing to Olympics
Noah Lyles’ comment on NBA champions attracted much controversy within the NBA circles. Top NBA players and celebrities such as Kevin Durant and hip-hop star Drake ridiculed the American track and field player on social media. However, now this ridicule might seem to bite the NBA loyalists as Team USA returned medal-less from the recently concluded FIBA World Cup. With such tough losses considered national humiliation, LeBron James has announced his interest in stepping up and representing the national team in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Amidst such chaos, fans have started bringing back Noah Lyles’ statement, exerting a reaction from KD. However, in a now-deleted post on X (formerly Twitter), Durant slammed a fan for re-igniting this issue once again.
Noah Lyles’ comment contradicted the NBA Finals being called ‘World Championship,’ despite being a league competition among cities in the United States. The current 100, 200, and 4×100-meter athletics world champion was slammed by KD on Instagram, with the likes of others as Stephen A. Smith and Drake joining in.
Kevin Durant slammed a fan for re-igniting the Noah Lyles controversy once again on X
Team USA had to face a humiliating defeat, days after Noah Lyles’ comment on the NBA Finals. Many global fans are currently ridiculing the Americans for defending the NBA Finals being called ‘World Championship,’ despite FIBA World Cup being organized every four years. While several NBA personalities, including Kevin Durant, lashed out at Lyles, their defense were all in vain as the national team returned medal-less from their World Cup campaign.
In a now-deleted Tweet, KD wrote:

Amidst all of this, LeBron James announced his interest in representing the national team for the 2024 Paris Olympics. James is also lobbying to bring in other All-Stars and future Hall of Famers such as KD, Stephen Curry, and Kyrie Irving to the team. As the American basketball community try comprehending this tough loss, an X user Thomas took the moment to remind KD of his words to Noah Lyles ahead of the tournament. It seems like KD is unwilling to tolerate any slander on the elite status and prowess of the NBA players. In a now-deleted tweet, KD replied to the user stating that they were ‘jealous’ of the NBA players. It now seems more obvious that the American basketball stars are all fired up to avenge this humiliation. The expected lineup for the upcoming Olympics might even feature the best All-Stars in the league, reminiscent of the 1992 Dream Team in Barcelona, Spain.
Top All-Star talents from the NBA have all shown their interest in joining Team USA
The thought of redemption and avenging this humiliation has ignited even further among the American basketball stars. Team USA is looking to redeem its status as the most elite basketball nation. To do so, several top NBA players have expressed their interest to step up and represent the national team.
Right after the bronze medal match, LeBron James announced his interest in joining Team USA. Besides this, James is also spearheading for others as Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and others to join him in the campaign. Players such as Devin Booker, Kyrie Irving, De’Aaron Fox, and Damian Lillard have also expressed serious interest in committing to the national team. If we indeed were to see this lineup, perhaps we would get to witness the brilliance and reminiscence of the 1992 Dream Team, but this time on a much bigger and wider scale.
