F1 Expert Claims Mick Schumacher Could Leave Mercedes Camp for F1 Seat Opportunities
Following his exit from Haas, Mick Schumacher found himself in the Mercedes AMG F1 team as their reserve driver in 2023. The German driver joined the Silver Arrows and is behind Lewis Hamilton and George Russell in the pecking order. In terms of guidance, Toto Wolff has taken him under his wing. However, as per a recent report by GP Blog, an F1 expert claimed that Schumacher might be on his way out of Mercedes to see his future elsewhere.
The former Haas driver faced a lot of criticism last year from its team principal Guenther Steiner. The Haas boss was extremely unhappy about Schumacher’s performance and the extremely high expenses the German driver incurred for the team due to multiple crashes.

However, Wolff has always been full of praise for the young driver. The Silver Arrows boss was impressed with the eagerness of Schumacher to learn from his seniors in the team and use the opportunity to uplift himself.
Schumacher and his future endeavor
Even since Schumacher joined Mercedes, he has been an active part of the team’s development, doing his part as the reserve driver. However, with Hamilton and Russell extending their contract for the two upcoming years, the German driver has to look elsewhere if he wants to get back to the grid.
As Schumacher is looking for other opportunities, Julien Febreau, a journalist for French media Canal+ recently revealed as per GP Blog that the 23-year-old driver could make a move to Alpine. However, he will not be replacing Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon in the team.

The young German does not have ample openings at his disposal. Therefore Alpine’ endurance team could provide one great chance for him. Speaking about this, Febreau said, “Mick Schumacher could join Alpine’s endurance program. The German driver is also expected to cast his seat at Alpine. Tests would be planned for the end of the month.”
What stands next for Mick Schumacher?
After spending two years with Haas, Mick Schumacher is currently spending his time away from the grid. Even though he is the reserve driver for Mercedes, an F1 seat is still a far shot for him.
Therefore, the ex-Haas driver needs to find ways to get back to racing, despite being in a comfortable environment at Mercedes. He needs to do this to prove his worth and secure his way back to F1.
For the time being, Schumacher is invited to test drive with an LMDh prototype. He can make his debut at the 24 hours at Le Mans for team Alpine [formerly Renault.] Notably, whether his role at Mercedes will remain or not is still to be known.
