Shai Gilgeous-Alexander the Jay-Z of the Game!”: Kevin Garnett’s Impression of Thunder Star Left Paul Pierce Praising LeBron James
Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett have made their picks for the upcoming season, with Kevin Garnett making some outrageous statements. While on their show, Ticket and The Truth, Kevin Garnett was asked by Paul Pierce who among the new crop of players was he most impressed by. Firstly, KG rattled off some names like Victor Wembanyama, Scoot Henderson, and Chet Holmgren but finally landed on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The OKC guard caught KG’s eye, with him even comparing Shai’s emergence in the league to that of hip-hop legend Jay-Z.
Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce discuss the ‘Jay-Z’ of basketball
Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce are often seen having some absurd takes on their weekly show, Ticket and The Truth. On a recent episode, Garnett was asked to choose his favorite player among the new crop of NBA players that played the pre-season, Garnett answering Paul’s question said ” Wemby’s impressed me. Chet Holmgren has impressed me. Shai. Boy! Man. Man! He is the Jay-Z of the game. You hear me? He like when everyone was cracking, 50[ 50-cent] came in…..G-Unit, you know what am saying? Shai coming in with a whole new one, ya all gonna respect mine. But you understand, he is coming in like Virgil. Like outta nowhere “.

Paul was quick to correct Kevin Garnett’s blasphemous take. According to Pierce, the Jay-Z of the league is none other than LeBron James saying, “Lebron is the Jay-Z. Bron is the Jay-Z.” Kevin was quick to agree with Pierce but also mentioned how he compared Shai to Jay from the angle of how they entered their respective fields and changed it forever.
Shai decides to put MJ-level responsibility on himself
SGA is one of the youngest and brightest talents the league has seen for a while. With a new and improved squad backing him, Shai is now the de facto leader of one of the youngest NBA teams in the league. As the floor general, Shai is taking on more responsibility, as he recently told media outlets, ” I don’t know if you saw ‘The Last Dance’ documentary, but there’s a point in Michael Jordan’s career where he had to learn the triangle offense and playing (without) the ball in his hands 24/7,” Gilgeous-Alexander said. “So if Michael Jordan has to do it, I have to do it.”
Not just Shai but everyone on the young OKC roster is fired up to compete for a spot in the playoffs. With the emergence of Chet and Josh Giddy, the Thunder might just create another Durant- Harden- Westbrook big three without even trying.
