Warriors player confirms Durant will leave GSW next season
The Draymond-KD altercation has dominated NBA headlines for the past two days with the Warriors finding themselves in the midst of a controversy that could maybe bring an end to their little NBA dynasty.
The entire saga unfolded after Draymond carried the ball with 5 seconds to go and refused to pass to any of his teammates, causing the game against the Clippers to go into OT.
Kevin Durant was furious with what transpired on the court and made it a point to voice his frustration to Draymond.
Draymond did not take the criticism too well and called KD a bitch, with the altercation even carrying into the locker room post Warriors’ loss.
Draymond reportedly taunted KD about his impending free agency and for making the season all about him and his future.
A Warriors player today confirmed to Marcus Thompson of the Athletic that after what happened with Draymond on the court, there was no way KD was staying for one more year.
“With what was said, there is already no way Durant is coming back,” the unnamed player said.
“The only hope is that they can say this summer, ‘See, KD. We’ve got your back. We protected you from Draymond.’” he added.
Draymond was even suspended for today’s game against the Hawks and the Warriors have made no official statement on if any other action is going to be taken on Draymond for the way he conducted himself on court that day.
Durant’s impending free agency has been a massive cause for discomfort at the Warriors this season and all that tension finally burst off onto the court with Draymond and KD coming together against the Clippers.
Coach Kerr though has confirmed that nobody talks about Durant’s free agency, but we don’t quite know if we can believe that.
