India’s Predicted Rank after T20I series vs Australia: Sportsrush presents before you India’s T20I rank after the Australia series.

With the T20I leg of India’s tour of Australia having begun now, let us go through different cases which might happen at the end of the series to have an impact on the team rankings in the MRF ICC Cricket Rankings.

The two teams in contention – Australia and India, are currently at No. 4 (116 rating points) and 2 (127 rating points) respectively in the ICC rankings.

Apart from the first T20I being played at the moment in Brisbane, the other two will be played on November 25 and November 27 at Melbourne and Sydney.

The last time when India had played a T20I series in Australia was in 2016. In which was a comprehensive victory for the Indians, it saw them whitewashing the hosts 3-0.

If India somehow manages to put on display a replica of 2016, they will stay at the second position and gain two points to reach 129. On the other hand, Australia will lose four points and slip to the sixth position, behind South Africa and New Zealand.

If India win the series 2-1, which is also a likely possibility, they won’t gain any point but Australia will end up losing one. That being said, both the teams will stick to their original rank as current No. 5 South Africa are at 114 points.

If Australia defeats its demons in the recent times to win the series 2-1, they will surpass England to climb one position to No. 3. In that scenario, India will lose a couple of rating points but won’t err in their position as they have a substantial lead in the rankings.

With the ongoing match being disrupted by rain, there might just be a chance of the match getting abandoned. If that happens and both the teams win a match each in the series, the series will end up as a 1-1 draw.

In that case, India will lose a point while Australia will gain one. However, there will be no change in either of the team’s rankings.
