Twitter erupts as Robert Kubica returns to F1 for 2019
Robert Kubica has an immense fan following in Formula 1, as F1 romantics touted him as the next big thing in the sport before the rallying accident that ended his hopes of scripting a new chapter in the sport.
Ever since, Kubica has been working on getting back into F1, for one last time, so as to prove to the world and to himself that they were right in believing that he was the next big thing in the sport in 2011.
Now, when he was announced as the Williams driver, F1 fans were hopeful of him one day returning to the sport, but as things were panning out(especially with Force India going into administration), it felt as if the ship had sailed for Kubica.
But recent developments suggested that Kubica could very well be back to the sport, as he had managed to get the required sponsorship.
Autosport has reported that Kubica has agreed to the Williams deal and will be partnering George Russell next year.
Kubica also had the option of signing up as the Ferrari simulator driver, but he has chosen an F1 drive instead.
“Maybe the wish of driving and coming back to F1 is bigger than the wish of a long project. I leave a lot to personal conclusions,” he said as quoted by Autosport.
“When I’m saying I want to make my mind up, it’s also about what I want to do with my future.
“I’m not looking only for the next three months, or one year, but what is my feeling.” he added.
