WATCH: Hazlewood and Vijay sledge each other
Hazlewood and Vijay sledge each other: The Australian fast bowler and Indian opener were seen going at each other on the third day.
During the third day of the first Test of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia at Adelaide, Australia vice-captain Josh Hazlewood was seen exchanging words with India opening batsman Murali Vijay.
It all happened in the 11th over when Lokesh Rahul played a couple of rash shots against Australia fast bowler Pat Cummins. While he missed the first one, the second one went over the slips for a boundary.
Hazlewood, who was bowling from the other end, took a jibe at Vijay in the next over. Engaging in the battle, the Indian batsman didn’t hold back from saying a few words.
In the following over, Cummins was seen crossing swords with Rahul. Perhaps, it was also done by the Australian bowlers to break India’s opening partnership. Rahul and Vijay ended up stitching a 63-run stand to provide India with a positive start.
Vijay, who was the first batsman to get out, played another expensive drive which went straight to Peter Handscomb at second slip. He ended up scoring 18 (53).
With India’s two best batsmen in Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli batting in the middle, India are looking ahead in the match. At the time of writing this article, they are 161 runs ahead in the match and would be looking to gain maximum advantage from their remaining eight wickets.
On the other hand, Australia would be looking to dismiss the opposition on a lowest possible score for chasing anything excess of 250 runs in the fourth innings against the likes of someone like Ravichandran Ashwin sounds hard to achieve until Australia put on display a record-breaking performance.
