Fernando Alonso to test MCL34 in Barcelona, according to reports
Fernando Alonso is coming off a famous win in the Daytona 24 hours, after having announced his retirement(or sabbatical) from Formula 1.
Alonso had had enough with McLaren not being able to compete with F1’s elite and decided to move on from F1 and focus on other forms of motorsport.
Having already won the Monaco GP and Le Mans, Alonso is currently focussed on winning the Indy 500, in order to only become the second man in history to win the famous and elusive Triple crown.
While Alonso has moved on from F1 and has admitted that his interests lie elsewhere for the time being, he hasn’t completely ruled out a comeback.

During the press conference of the final race in Abu Dhabi last season, Alonso conceded that he could return to F1 in the future, in any of the multiple capacities possible.
Now, according to reports in Spain(especially in Marca), Alonso could be back to F1 sooner than you would have thought, as he is reportedly scheduled to participate in McLaren’s winter testing in Barcelona.
Alonso is reportedly scheduled for half a day of testing with McLaren, however, the report cannot confirm if that would be in the first or the second week of Barcelona testing.
“It seems that Fernando Alonso will try half a day the new car ‘papaya’, but it is not known if it will happen the first week of the tests in the Circuit, from February 18 to 21, or in the second, from 21 to 24.” Marca has reported.
