“Mark Davis Will Fire You…”: Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson React as Deion Sanders Reportedly Shows Interest in Raiders HC Job
Deion Sanders had previously stated he has no interest in coaching in the NFL unless he gets to coach his sons — Shedeur and Shilo. However, he has made a U-turn now, expressing interest in the head coaching position that has opened at the Las Vegas Raiders. Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson reacted to the news by giving a heads up to Coach Prime that he would be on a short leash in Las Vegas.
Johnson said that Deion understands the harsh realities of the NFL business all too well. In a league dominated by quarterbacks, a head coach’s tenure is often short-lived without a capable signal-caller to lead the team to success. Sharpe concurred.
“Prime knows best and has been around the game of football for a very long time. You also know if you do have an interest in that HC job, you all have a short leash unless you have a QB. You the greatest, Prime Time will have a very short leash. Mark Davis will fire you as well,” said Ocho in the latest episode of The Nightcap.
Johnson added that things will get interesting if the Raiders sign a veteran QB, or they draft Shedeur Sanders.
If Las Vegas hire Deion, he will turn things around as he has done with the Colorado Buffaloes, said Ocho, adding that the owners should give him time to get things in place. Chad expects any team which hires Coach Prime to give him the power to make decisions, implement his game plan, and build a culture.
Meanwhile, it seems the Raiders have no interest in hiring Sanders as their head coach, as per The Athletic‘s Vic Tafur and Tashan Reed. He currently has +700 odds to land in Las Vegas. Ben Johnson has the best odds to get the job at +150. Tom Brady, Mark Davis, and the front office love him and rave about his offense-centric coaching style.
The Vikings DC Brian Flores has the 2nd best odds with +350. Mike Vrabel was also in the running until he got the New England Patriots job. So now, Pete Carroll (+500) has the 3rd best odds for the HC job in Las Vegas.
