Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul depart cheaply in India vs New Zealand World Cup Warm-up match; Twitter reacts
Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul depart cheaply: Indian top-order failed to get going against New Zealand in the Warm-up match.
During the ongoing warm-up match for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 between India and New Zealand at The Oval, Indian top-order failed to show resilience against New Zealand’s pace attack.
After India captain Virat Kohli won the toss and chose to bat, his batsmen let him down by providing early breakthroughs to the opposition. Other than he openers, Lokesh Rahul also failed to make a mark after being sent at No. 4 in the absence of injured Vijay Shankar.
On the second delivery of the second over, vice-captain Rohit Sharma (2) was found wanting against Trent Boult. Sharma failed to cope up to an in-swinging delivery from the left-arm fast bowler.
On the first ball of Boult’s next over, opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan (2) inside-edged a delivery to New Zealand wicket-keeper Tom Blundell. While Rahul looked comfortable initially, he also inside-edged a Boult delivery on to his stumps to walk back to the pavilion for 6.
India put on display another surprise by sending all-rounder Hardik Pandya at No. 5. While the right-hand batsman gave impressions of looking comfortable in the middle, India were then jolted by the dismissal of Kohli.
In the 11th over, Kohli got out to his Royal Challengers Bangalore teammate Colin de Grandhomme after scoring 18 (24) with the help of three fours. The skipper’s dismissal saw India reeling at 39/4.

Kl Rahul and Virat Kohli is out and India is suddenly 41/4. Is India already missing a left hander in the middle order??😕😕 I wish Rishabh pant was chosen in the WC squad. #CWC19 #INDvNZ
