Andre Iguodala hits clutch 3 to win it for Warriors vs Raptors in Game 2 of the NBA finals; the series is now tied at 1-1 with GSW on top

After a despiriting Game 1 loss for the Warriors despite an ordinary game from Kawhi Leonard, the Warriors needed an answer. Early in the first half, it looked like they weren’t going to get it as trends from Game continued on and Warriors trailed the Raptors by 5 going into half time, having at one point trailed by as many as 14 points.

The answer came in 3rd quarter and through unlikely sources. The Warriors started the 2nd half with an 18-0 run to bury the Raptors who never got very close to tying the game until the very end. Draymond Green was a big factor, but it was DeMarcus Cousins who was the star of the show.

His work on both sides of the ball was fantastic as he nullified Marc Gasol on defense while scoring efficiently and creating for others. His best pass came on a transition play where he found Andre Iguodala wide open for a 3.

That was the first 3 Iguodala had hit in 6 games after going 5/8 from 3s in game 6 against the Rockets. It was a confidence boost he needed that he later used to bury the game.

With 27 seconds left on the clock and Warriors up 2, Curry brought the ball up the court. The Raptors decided not to foul him and decided against it when he passed to Green, who gave it to Livingston, back to Curry who nearly turned it over but for Livingston’s hustle and the ball ended up in Iguodala’s hands.

With 5 seconds left on the shot clock, Iguodala was wide open and could have taken a few seconds off the clock and then chucked a shot with defenders over him and lived with the results. But Iguodala, confident of the previous make took the shot and he buried it. With that he buried the chances of Raptors stealing a win in game 2 and has now given the Warriors home court advantage.

With KD looking close to a return, this was a big moment for the Raptors as a 2-0 lead is a huge one in the NBA finals. But it was 2015 finals MVP Andre Iguodala with the 3 that hit the biggest shot of the night and provided the answer the Warriors were looking for.
