Hardik Pandya admits apologizing to Ravindra Jadeja for expressing anger after run-out in 2017 Champions Trophy
Hardik Pandya admits apologizing to Ravindra Jadeja: The Indian all-rounder disclosed why he apologized to fellow all-rounder in 2017.
During the final match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 between India and Pakistan at The Oval, India all-rounder Hardik Pandya getting run-out in the 27th over turned the favour of the match completely towards the Pakistan team.
On the third delivery of the over, Jadeja played a Hasan Ali delivery to Mohammad Hafeez at cover. While Pandya was interested in taking the single, Jadeja was caught ball-watching which led to a drastic miscommunication between both the players.
With Hafeez throwing the ball back to Hasan Ali at the non-striker’s end, Pandya had no chance whatsoever to save himself from getting out. Having scored an inspired 76 (46) with the help of four fours and six sixes, Pandya’s downfall further pushed India away from chasing a 339-run target.

While walking back to the pavilion, Pandya was fuming and devastated at his dismissal. In a recent interview, Pandya disclosed that he apologized to the senior all-rounder for his expressing his anger in such a manner and said that the same was because of the heat of the moment.

“I’m someone who is passionate about the game. I don’t think I’ll do that now. It was just emotion. To be honest, if you’re in that situation, nothing comes in your mind. That time it was just anger, I was in the zone and everything was happening.
“I went to the dressing room, I talked to Jaddu [Ravindra Jadeja] and I said I’m extremely sorry. I told him it was just anger and it was not intentional. I’m not a bad guy,” Pandya was quoted as saying in a video tweeted by ICC (International Cricket Council).
“Want to win the World Cup…”
Pandya, who has publicly talked about lifting the World Cup, opened up on his focus during the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. “[There is] no pressure because only maybe 1.5 billion people are expecting, so no pressure at all.
“On July 14, I want to have a Cup in my hand, that is the only thing. Even when I think of it, it gives me goosebumps. My plan is simple–win the World Cup. I am hoping that and I expect that from myself,” Pandya added.
