AB de Villiers' wife slams a fan blaming her for South African batsman's surprise retirement

AB de Villiers’ wife slams a fan who blamed her for de Villiers’ shocking retirement from international Cricket

South African legendary batsman AB de Villiers left the entire Cricketing fraternity teary-eyed, when he announced his out of the blue shocking retirement from International Cricket last year. Many believed that the prime reason for the announcement was South Africa’s agonising exit from the semi-finals of the 2015 World Cup against New Zealand.

The 35-year-old however cited consistent injuries and extreme pressure whilst playing the game as the prime reasons that led him bid adieu from his favourite sport. De Villiers presently, only plays the various T20 leagues around the world, and is a popular figure of the Indian Premier League (IPL), especially amongst Indians. He also posts some lovely pictures of his outings with his wife- Danielle de Villiers along with their children on the various social media handles.

To add on the list, De Villiers’ wife recently posted yet another picture with her better half on Instagram. On of de Villiers’ fans came up with an absurd comment, blaming her to be the reason for the former Proteas skipper’s untimely retirement.

What did the fan comment?

The lovely picture of the couple posted by Danielle, beared the caption- “I hope you don’t mind that I put down in words… how wonderful life is now that you’re in the world. Much needed the afternoon off with my one and only, confidante and bestie”.

While many of her followers were in awe of the picture, one probable AB de Villiers fan blamed his wife to be the reason for his early retirement and that he would have been playing for South Africa in the World Cup. He also added that she had ruined his life and broken many hearts (of fans like him) across the world.

Danielle hits back

Clearly unimpressed with the level of comment of the fan, Danielle de Villiers chose to give the bloke a fitting reply, instead of ignoring him.

She was pretty sarcastic with her reply, as she warned the person to not question on the sanctity of their marriage. He also gave him a ‘friendly warning’ not to bear them with his pathetic and uninformed opinion.

This was the perfect reply she could have come up with. There have been many unfortunate cases where people try to malign the character and attempt to drag in the families of their favourite players into an unnecessary controversy. Her reply is surely a tight slap on people who resort to such comments.

It is worth mentioning that South Africa have become the second team after Afghanistan to crash out of the ongoing World Cup, post their 49-run loss against Pakistan at The Lord’s on Sunday.

Here is the fan’s comment and Danielle’s consequent fitting reply to the same
