CSK's probable XI against DD

Ambati Rayudu has been in the form of his career for his Indian Premier League (IPL) team Chennai Super Kings (CSK) this season. He has played some sensible knocks and he is the leading run-scorer in this season so far. Even the CSK skipper MS Dhoni got impressed with his performance and praised his ability to bat at any position. Reportedly, Rayudu is set to make a comeback to the national team.

Rayudu has scored 329 runs in 7 matches at an astonishing strike rate of 154.46 and an amazing average of 47 so far. He also has two fifties to his name this season so far. He has been the most consistent batsman in this IPL. He also showed his ability to bat at different positions and still score a lot of runs.

MSK Prasad, chairman of the national selection committee, said that he was happy for the player. “I am excited about his form. He has come out all guns blazing and gives us a few more options,” he told TOI on Thursday.

L Shivaramakrishnan, former cricketer, who witnessed another great knock from Rayudu at the Chinnaswamy stadium on Wednesday night against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, said “I totally agree that Rayudu should get into the Indian team on his current form. He has shown great skills and form. He should certainly be considered for the shorter formats,”.

“Ambati has been sensational with the bat this season, looking fitter and aggressive. His body positioning and balance are near perfect hence he is able to play some unbelievable shots and taking the opposition bowling to pieces no matter what the pitch has to offer. He still has got in him to play at the highest level,” he said.

It’s not that Rayudu hasn’t played for team India before. He was picked earlier and even stood up to expectations. But he has dropped abruptly and he was out of action last year due to an injury. “If it wasn’t for his injury, the selectors would have definitely picked him last year too,” a BCCI source said.
