Arsenal are desperate to land Gary Cahill before the transfer window ends as injury concerns mount up.
Arsenal have been a calamity at the back, maintaining just four clean sheets in the Premier League. With this record, they have the third worst record in the top ten which comes as no surprise after the quality they added in the summer transfer window.
When Unai Emery took over he decided to pursue deals for Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Stephen Leichsteiner. Besides, the Spaniard signed the shot-stopper Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen. But, nothing has worked for the Gunners as they have been shambles at the back.
With Hector Bellerin and Rob Holding already on treatment table ruling them out for the rest of the season, Unai Emery has a huge headache to solve. Sokratis was forced off injured during the first half against Manchester United which will keep him out for one month. On the other hand, Skipper Laurent Koscielny’s injury has been eased off as the Spaniard rubbishes the claims of a broken jaw.

With the top four challenge and the pressure to lift the Europa League, the Gunners boss is keen to secure another defender to boost the squad depth. According to the English publication Mirror, it is understood that the London outfit are looking at their arch-rivals Skipper Gary Cahill who has fallen out of favour under the new manager Maurizio Sarri.

The English International has not made any appearances after November 29, 2018, when they were comfortable 4-0 winners over PAOK in the Europa League at Stamford Bridge. The 33-year-old has featured just 7 appearances this term after getting restricted by David Luiz, Antonio Rudiger, and Andreas Christensen.
There is no doubt that Cahill would get the game time at the Emirates, but there is serious doubt if the Chelsea defender would improve the Gunners at the backline. With the injuries mounting up, he could well fill up the void as a backup to Sokratis and Mustafi who is the first choice centre-back partnership under Unai Emery.
GARY CAHILL and Scott Dann are ready to make shock moves in a changing of the guard at Crystal Palace.

It will be a good deal to go through as they would have a cover at the back. Crystal Palace are the other side to register their interest on the defender. It will be an interesting battle because not very often Chelsea would love to do business with Arsenal.
