Arsenal include Emiliano Sala in Cardiff City squad

Arsenal include Emiliano Sala in Cardiff City squad: Arsenal had a classy gesture for Cardiff City before the game at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal are playing Cardiff City at the Emirates Stadium tonight. Unai Emery’s side has had a few shaky weeks and will look to return to winning ways against Neil Warnock’s side.

Cardiff City faced a massive tragedy earlier this month as their new signing, Emiliano Sala went missing after his aircraft disappeared somewhere over the Channel Islands.

The aircraft lost signal at around 8:30 PM on Monday last week and an official search for the player and the pilot began immediately. French civil aviation authority later confirmed that Sala was on the aircraft.

After three days of operation, Guernsey Police called off the search in a detailed statement, where they admitted that survival in such a scenario is ‘remote.’

Sala’s family, however, started a GoFundMe campaign and raised funds to begin a private search underwater, which is scheduled to begin on the weekend.

Various players, including Sergio Aguero and Lionel Messi have called for the authorities to resume search and recovery operation to find Emiliano Sala and the pilot.

While Cardiff City has paid tribute to the player, Arsenal have also made a classy gesture as a mark of respect for Emiliano Sala.

In the MatchDay Programme for the game against Neil Warnock’s side, Arsenal included Emiliano Sala’s name on the away squad.

Emiliano Sala signed for Cardiff City two weeks ago and was scheduled to make his debut in this game.

The Argentinian footballer joined Cardiff City from Nantes.

Earlier, a survey vessel was hired to conduct an underwater search.

“We have sourced and hired a survey vessel equipped with state of the art search equipment, which will be used to conduct an underwater search for the wreckage in the area of the last radar contact,” David Mearns from Bluewater Recoveries said.

“The survey vessel is currently being mobilised in Southampton, and subject to weather conditions, will be re-positioned to Guernsey on Thursday or Friday this week.

“Based on current weather predictions, we are hopeful that the underwater search will begin on the weekend, most probably on Sunday.”
