The Sporting Lisbon winger is keen on the move to Arsenal, according to reports from Portugal.

Arsenal are set for a transformation under Unai Emery’s helm at the club. The club has already completed the signing of Stephan Lichtsteiner, and are close to confirm the move of Sokratis Papastathopoulos. Arsenal are also heavily linked with PSG’s youngster Yacine Adli.

According to reports in Portugal, the Gunners submitted a bid for Portuguese winger Gelson Martins, which was rejected. However, Arsenal have refused to rest and submitted a second bid for the winger.

Arsenal’s initial bid of 26 million pounds was rejected earlier, according to A Bola. But the North London have not sent an improved bid, and decided to submit the same bid for the Portuguese.

A Bola reports that Martins is keen on signing for Arsenal. It is understood that Arsenal’s continued pressure may allow Sporting Lisbon to accept the deal for the winger.

Many players of the club want to reportedly cancel the contract with the club, following the attack on the players last month. However, A Bola claims that Gelson Martins doesn’t want to pursue that option, and wants the club to sell him instead.

Gelson Martins is in the 23-member squad for Portugal as the team chases the world cup glory in Russia this summer. The release clause for the winger at Sporting Lisbon is 53 million pounds.

The 23-year old winger has been the stand-out performer for Sporting Lisbon last season. He made 52 appearances for the club, scoring 13 goals and providing as many assists.
